Why this recipe works

Salmon is an oily fish. It provides protein, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, and vitamin D. EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart (at 250 mg per day). Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and the normal function of the muscles. Broccoli provides vitamin C, and vitamin C contributes to the normal formation of collagen for the normal function of the cartilage.
