RECIPE: Children's Smoothie with Orange, Banana and Elderberry

A tasty smoothie that children really like, with vitamin C from orange and berries, yoghurt, banana and a hint of elderberry and honey.

Ingredient list

  • 1 orange, peeled
  • 1 banana
  • 100 g strawberries or berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 200 g full-fat Greek yogurt or plant-based yogurt
  • 100 ml plant-based milk
  • 1 teaspoon honey or elderberry syrup
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

Preparation

  1. Put all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend for 60 seconds until smooth.
  3. Pour into 2 glasses or cups with a straw.
  4. Drink immediately.

Why this recipe fits

Orange and berries provide vitamin C; vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system. Yoghurt provides protein and calcium. Banana makes the smoothie sweet and creamy. A tasty way to get children to eat fruit.

Tips & variations

  • Do not give honey to children under 1 year; use elderberry syrup without honey instead, or leave out the sweetener
  • Variation: add mango for a tropical profile
  • Store a large portion in the refrigerator for 2 days
