Good bone broth needs just one ingredient: bones. Big Food Bone Broth is simmered from meaty beef bones from organically reared, grass-fed cattle from the EU. The broth is then dried in Sweden into a fine, cream-coloured powder. We add nothing to it, not even lecithin to make it dissolve more easily. What you find in the jar is just broth.

As a drinking broth

Dissolve 10 g in 250 ml hot water. Adjust the amount of water to taste: less water gives a stronger broth.

How to dissolve it smoothly

1. First put the powder in the mug.
2. Add a small splash of hot water and stir into a smooth paste.
3. Then top up with the rest of the hot water and stir again briefly.

A milk frother or whisk also works well. In lukewarm water or a shaker, small lumps may remain.

Seasoning

Big Food Bone Broth has a mild, neutral taste, so you can season it yourself. Try a pinch of salt and pepper, fresh ginger, a squeeze of lemon, or some fresh parsley or chives.

In the kitchen

Use it as a base for soups, sauces, gravy or risotto, or cook your rice or grains in it. The powder withstands high temperatures, so it can simply be cooked along with your dish.

Recommended daily intake

As on the label: 1 serving of 10 g (1 scoop) a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily amount.

Storage

Store dry, tightly closed and at room temperature. Do not place in direct sunlight or next to a heat source. Keep out of reach of children. Always use a dry spoon, as moisture in the jar makes the powder clump.

What is bone broth powder?

Bone broth powder is dried bone broth. Beef bones are simmered into broth, after which the moisture is removed until a fine, concentrated powder remains. Dissolve it in hot water and you have broth again.

What is the best way to dissolve the powder?

Put the powder in your mug, stir it with a splash of hot water into a smooth paste and then top up with the rest of the water. With a whisk or milk frother it is even quicker.

How much do I use each time?

One scoop (10 g) in 250 ml hot water, once a day (as on the label). A 300 g tub provides 30 servings.

What is the difference from collagen powder?

Collagen powder is a standalone protein that often goes tasteless into coffee or a smoothie. Bone broth is dried broth: it naturally contains collagen, but also has a savoury taste and is intended as a warm drink or as a base in the kitchen.

Can I also use it cold or in dishes?

Yes. You can mix the powder into cold water, juice or a smoothie. It also withstands high temperatures, so you can simply cook it along in soup, sauce or stew.

Does bone broth contain salt?

Yes. Bone broth naturally contains sodium from the bones and connective tissue: 1.7 g salt per 100 g, 0.18 g per serving.

Why does it taste so mild?

No flavourings or flavour enhancers have been added. So you decide the flavour yourself, with salt, pepper, ginger, lemon or fresh herbs.
