Vitals Vitamin B12 1000 µg provides the two biologically active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12 in a 50/50 ratio: methylcobalamin (active in blood plasma and cytoplasm, co-factor in homocysteine→methionine) and adenosylcobalamin (active in the mitochondria, role in the citric acid cycle). Unlike synthetic cyanocobalamin, these are the forms the body can use without an intermediate step.

Usage

Take 1–2 capsules per day between meals with water. The capsule may also be opened and the powder taken sublingually (under the tongue). Keep to the recommended dose.

Please note

If you use metformin or long-term acid-suppressing medication: pay extra attention to your B12 status. Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding without consulting a doctor.

Vitamin B12 works together with folate (B11) and vitamin B6 — together the core of homocysteine metabolism. This product deliberately contains no folate or B6, so it can be used alongside a complete B complex or multi. With a confirmed deficiency: 1 capsule per day; 2 capsules per day only in consultation with a doctor or therapist.

Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

What is the difference between methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin?

Methylcobalamin is active in blood plasma and cytoplasm and is a co-factor in converting homocysteine to methionine. Adenosylcobalamin (dibencozide) is active in the mitochondria and plays a role in the citric acid cycle. Together they cover the two main roles of vitamin B12.

Why no cyanocobalamin?

Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form that the body first has to convert into the active coenzyme forms. Supplying methyl- and adenosylcobalamin directly skips this conversion step.

Can I open the capsule and take the powder sublingually?

Yes — the capsule may be opened and the powder sprinkled under the tongue. You can also swallow the capsule whole with water.

Is this product suitable for vegans?
