D3 + K2 (MK-7) — 2000 IU + 75 µg — 90 capsules

Plent D3 + K2 (MK-7) contains 50 µg cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) from lanolin and 75 µg menaquinone-7 (vitamin K2) per capsule. Cholecalciferol is the same form that the body produces in the skin under the influence of sunlight. Menaquinone-7 is a natural form of K2 with a long half-life (about 72 hours) — considerably longer than menaquinone-4. The capsule shell is made of pullulan, a plant-based alternative to gelatine. The formulation was developed in Switzerland; production takes place in Spain to EU standards.

One capsule a day provides 1000% of the reference intake (RI) for vitamin D and 100% of the RI for vitamin K. The vitamin D dose is 50% of the tolerable upper intake level set by EFSA (100 µg per day for adults). Free from gluten, GMOs and the 14 legally declarable allergens.

Vitamin D helps to reduce the risk of falling associated with postural instability and muscle weakness. Falling is a risk factor for bone fractures among men and women 60 years of age and older. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 µg of vitamin D from all sources; this product provides 50 µg per daily dose.

Dry and at room temperature (15–25 °C), away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

Warnings

• Do not use if the seal is missing or damaged.
• This food supplement is not suitable for children aged 10 and under. Keep out of reach of young children.
• The vitamin K in this product makes it unsuitable for concurrent use with coumarin derivatives (anticoagulants such as warfarin, acenocoumarol and phenprocoumon).
• Do not use in case of hypercalcaemia, hyperparathyroidism, kidney stones or sarcoidosis without medical advice.
• Consult a doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication (in particular digoxin and thiazide diuretics) or have an existing medical condition.
• Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Plenthera usage tip

Take the capsule with your main meal at lunch or dinner, which usually contains some fat (olive oil, fish, avocado, butter, nuts). If you are unsure about your own needs, have your vitamin D blood level (25-OH vitamin D) measured via your GP or a self-test.

Why D3 and K2 together in one product?

Vitamin D contributes to normal absorption/utilisation of calcium and phosphorus and to normal blood calcium levels. Vitamin K contributes to normal blood clotting and to the maintenance of normal bones. Both vitamins are fat-soluble and are therefore often combined in one capsule.

Why MK-7 instead of MK-4?

MK-7 has a half-life of about 72 hours; MK-4 only a few hours. MK-7 therefore remains present in the blood for much longer, which suits a dose of one capsule per day.

Where does the vitamin D3 come from?

From lanolin (sheep's wool). This is a widely used commercial source of D3. Lanolin is a by-product of shearing and is refined into pure cholecalciferol. The product is therefore not vegan.

Isn't 2000 IU too high?

2000 IU corresponds to 50 µg vitamin D per day. That is above the reference intake (5 µg), but at 50% of the tolerable upper intake level of 100 µg per day for adults set by EFSA. If you are unsure about your own needs, consult a doctor or have your blood level measured.

Why is it not suitable for children aged 10 and under?

The 2000 IU vitamin D dose is tailored to adults and too high for children. Specific vitamin D products with lower doses are available for children.

Can I combine this with blood thinners?

No, not without medical advice. Vitamin K is a direct antagonist of coumarin derivatives (warfarin, acenocoumarol, phenprocoumon). Using this product may affect the action of these medicines.

When is the best time to take it?

With a meal that contains fat (for example with olive oil, avocado, egg, fish or nuts). Vitamins D and K are both fat-soluble. The time of day does not matter.

Does it contain allergens?

No. Free from the 14 legally declarable allergens. The capsule is made of pullulan (plant-based), not gelatine.
