What is Rhodiola rosea?

Rhodiola rosea (common name golden root) is a plant that grows naturally in cold mountainous regions of Northern Europe, Asia, and Russia. Its root has been used for over 2000 years in traditional herbal practice and, within the Rhodiola genus—which comprises over 130 species—it is the variety with the most extensive history of use.

What are rosavins and salidroside?

Rosavins and salidroside are the two groups of phytochemicals characteristic of Rhodiola rosea. Rosavins are used as a chemical marker to distinguish Rhodiola rosea from other Rhodiola species (in which rosavins are absent or present in negligible amounts). The Rhodiolife® extract in this product is standardized to 5% rosavins and 1.8% salidroside.

What is an adaptogen?

Within traditional herbal practice, an adaptogen is a classifying term for herbs that, in traditional use, are associated with adapting to stressful conditions. Rhodiola rosea is traditionally placed within this group. There is no official EFSA-approved health claim for adaptogens.

What is Rhodiolife®?

Rhodiolife® is a standardized Rhodiola rosea root extract and a registered trademark of Nektium (Spain). The raw material is DNA-tested for species authenticity and chemically analyzed for rosavin and salidroside content per production batch.

Why take it in the morning or afternoon — and not in the evening?

The label instructions recommend taking it in the morning or afternoon because, in practice, rhodiola can have an alerting effect on sensitive users. By scheduling intake no later than early afternoon, any potential impact on the sleep onset phase is avoided.

Is this product suitable for vegans?

Yes — Vitals Rhodiola-LF is 100% plant-based. The pullulan capsule is derived from fermented cassava starch.

Can I combine Rhodiola-LF with other supplements or medications?

No — do not combine with antidepressants or sleeping pills (as per label). If taking blood pressure medication or anticoagulants: consult a doctor beforehand.
