About the collection

Marine collagen consists of hydrolyzed collagen peptides extracted from fish scales and skin. The peptide profile is predominantly type 1 collagen—the same type that is predominantly present in human skin. Smaller peptide size (average 2-5 kDa) ensures good bioavailability. Studies show improved skin hydration and elasticity with daily intake of 2.5-10 g for 8-12 weeks (Choi 2019; Pu 2023).

Why marine collagen?

Marine collagen is primarily type 1—the type most common in human skin. The hydrolyzed peptides are small enough to be absorbed in the small intestine and transport specific di- and tri-peptides (such as proline-hydroxyproline) that are directly measured in the skin after oral intake (Iwai 2005).

For those who do not want bovine collagen (religious or preference reasons), or for those who prefer a smaller peptide size: marine is generally slightly more finely hydrolyzed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between marine collagen and bovine collagen?

Marine = predominantly type 1, smaller peptides, from fish scales/skin. Bovine = type 1 and type 3, often slightly larger peptides. Both effective for the skin; taste and source (fish vs mammal) often determine the choice.

How much marine collagen per day?

Studies use 2.5-10 g per day. Plent Pure Marine sachets provide 5 g per sachet — a sweet spot between efficacy and cost.

When will I see results?

First improvements (skin hydration) after 4-8 weeks of consistent use; elasticity and visible wrinkle effects after 8-12 weeks.

Does marine collagen contain vitamin C?

Plent Pure Marine contains 80 mg of vitamin C from acerola — 100% of the NRV. Important because vitamin C is a co-factor for the body's own collagen formation.

Is marine collagen vegan?

No. For vegans: see our vegan collagen booster — it provides the building blocks (vitamin C, zinc, amino acids) to support the body's own collagen formation.

Does marine collagen taste like fish?

With proper hydrolysis and flavors: minimally. Plent Pure Marine is flavored with natural fruit or chocolate aromas; the typical fish taste is masked.
