And third, magnesium regulates the action of two hormones (parathormone and calcitonin) that control calcium metabolism.

The result: with a chronic magnesium deficiency, even a high calcium or D3 intake is less effective. You need magnesium for the other two to work at all.

Magnesium oxide

Widely used in inexpensive supplements due to its high magnesium content per gram. However, its absorption rate is low (approximately 4%). Less suitable for effective supplementation — but useful for constipation due to its laxative effect.

Magnesium is perhaps the most underestimated link in bone health. It works in the background — as an activator, structure builder, and regulator — and without sufficient magnesium, calcium and D3 can only partially do their work.
